Investing in turkey
We have 2 decades of experience investing in Turkey, both in manufacturing and in service sectors. Historically, trade investments (especially from Turkey to Pakistan) have dominated the majority of bilateral FDI relations. Recently however, the major preference for retail investors has been property and real estate, especially given the lucrative citizenship by investment programme. Our sister concern, Azad Properties, has been at the forefront of real estate and investment migration programmes and represents some of Turkey’s largest private and public-private-partnership developers. To date over 1200 properties have found new owners thanks to us, and we’ve processed over 600 passport applications for our clients and their dependents.
Turkish companies like Arcelik and Papara have invested heavily in Pakistan with the acquisition of Dawlence and Sadapay respectfully; this comes on the heels of energy sector investments in Pakistan by Turkish industry-giants dating back decades. In the other direction, many top Pakistani brands in the cosmetics sector have shifted production almost entirely to Turkey, leveraging lower import duties and trade benefits to take advantage of Turkey’s top-tier manufacturing sector. Trade Advisory
With the Pakistan-Turkey Trade in Goods Agreement coming into force in May 2023, a boom is expected in bilateral trade between the two countries. Trade volume between the two countries stood at $1.1billion in 2021, with Turkey having a surplus of nearly $600m. With this agreement, the Pakistan Business Council expects a nearly 5x increase for Pakistani exports within the first two years, and a nearly 10x increase within the first five years. Many tariff lines have opened up in either direction, providing a unique opportunity for trade.
Agency Services
Azad Ventures currently holds the exclusive agency rights for some of Pakistan’s top brands, including Shahi and Premium Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd. We work with manufacturers and exporters in Pakistan by connecting them to the right buyers in Turkey and vice versa, arbitraging favourable prices in the respective markets.
